In 42, 43 and 44 all was 56% Copper, 35% Silver, 9% Manganese. In my transition coins list I do not see such. I thing an XRF will be adequate to know if it is not an wrong alloy mixt due to the relative color. Any Jeweler shop can do this test if you do not posses one.

Which Laser test was performed? I do not know those non-incentive tests.

Acid test it is not recommended. Almost if it is an Jeweler test. Fake at this stage of the coin? who will do? and for what?. What it is the diameter and the weight? To be at this color the brass alloy must have max 20% of silver or other white metals. Or maybe this coin come from an shells recuperation roll planchet.

Not all wartime nickels are black with age.
