The other day I purchased 50 cents of a 1971 PCGS MS65. Going to the PCGS website, I expected to see a price of $ 5, a maximum of $ 10. But PCGS estimated it at $40, I was shocked. Where did this simple coin get such a price from? Is there something I don't know?

Someone must have paid that much. Best bet is to check ebay sold values for a realistic market value.

Also, there probably aren't a ton of '71 halves in that grade.

They are quite proud of their plastic and it shows in some of the pricing.

TPG never indicates in its coin prices, the durability of the work. I have seen PCGS whose market value on the website indicated both $2 and $5.
