Hi everyone,

Certainly I have not handled one of these before; I am guessing it is authentic... Weights about 33.8, d. 39, thickness about 3.3. details match numista, including assay marks. There are some scratches in the fields which doesn't make sense, but the price was very good.

With a mintage of 500 these must be hard to come by. Does anyone know anymore about them besides what numista and wiki says? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Well this proof coin has been heavily fingerprinted, which is a shame. Consider an acetone bath, which may help a little.

Thanks @spence and @grinya . . . it's a curious issue. Kind of reminds me of San Marino - living in Italy - I see 20-30 San Marino commemoratives a week . . . although I think this coin is much nicer and better struck than most San Marino issues.

@Grinya, do you see these often in Russia?

Roma2021, yes, Abkhazia coins are available there even taken into account their mintage.
But for me they are not in the area of collection.

I am not really into commemoratives either, I only own three that I couldn't turn down at the price offered.

I agree seems like a fun way to stack your silver.

@grinya Any idea if these came in boxes from the mint? This one came in an unmarked coin box...

@spence.... I agree. I own this one, a 1968 Chilean commemorative, and a 1986 Kuwaiti..m cool to look at ...

I didn't find such coins on sale with a photo in coin box, therefore I suppose they came without it
