I opened my 1959-1965 mint sets today. The '62 was awesome. Posted some toners on the modern forum.

Hope the pictures are good enough for this beauty.

Did I finally find a gem?

Is it in the 2x2? Not good at grading, but it looks "lacking" to me.

You guys are tough! Here are some out of the holder. The natural light tends to make me agree. It seems so close! This is through a 10x loop. Minor shoulder chatter, hits on the pillars, light strike on the obverse. I'll keep trying for that elusive first 66 find! Maybe a camera would help my grades!

If I can turn Tbop then this is historic for me!

Thank you all for helping me be really picky! You all are like AA for alcoholics.
You really ruined my drinking but keeping me honest with my grading has given me a better eye.

Now the long hunt for the next one.

Captain, I will explain:

you has some rim marks, then the spots, then the rims are not equal and not a relative full strike. All the TPG look at this to pass 65, sorry man is what it is. hope come with one in 68.

I didn't see the rim marks. Can't see them or the spots with the naked eye. Definitely can see them with this 10x magnification! Plus photos do funny things (uneven rim). It is a weaker strike and has some flaws as I mentioned earlier. Nevertheless, I'm not sending it to a TPG. It's still a gem in my eye! Would I sell it as such, no. I will still put it ahead of 99.9% of other 1962 cents that I come across raw.

I appreciate all the feedback! It's great to come here and get opinions to help me learn the grading process and develop an eye.
