To add onto Coinfrog, a common coin in your condition, but skyrockets in AU and higher, and becomes rare in high grades. Not worthy to get this graded in this shape.

Well I'll still hold onto it maybe I'll make it my pocket coin :-) that's what I figured I have other Morgan's just none with so rare a date . Lame I wonder how it got that mark in her cheek.

Welcome! Coins get all kinds of scratches, dings in circulation. Even Mint State coins that never circulated can have knicks and scratches from being in canvas bags full of them. Learn as much as you can before spending a lot. Check sold prices on ebay and if you have a local coin store go there. I'd recommend you not send any coins for grading until you understand more about condition, rarity, etc. You could buy Morgans already graded/slabbed for a while if that's what you want. About 3.2 million 1884-S were made, that's less than some other years but not rare. Condition is much more important than mintage numbers generally. There are numerous YouTube videos about collecting coins, some good some amatuerish. Collecting coins means they often have higher value than the coin's face value or metal value (silver, gold). Some do what's called stacking. They buy cheaper common silver coins, little collector value but with potential of being worth more someday if metal prices rise. They can also be used to trade/barter for goods/services if paper currency is no longer worth much or you can't get access to your bank account for a while (bank hacked, war). My collection includes both low grade stackers and nice AU to Mint State Morgan and Peace, some graded, some not.

Junk silver value, not worth grading.
