I picked this up at a car boot a long time ago and the seller said they'd had it years and picked it up in China. Any ideas please on it's authenticity, I'm assuming it's just a fake for the tourist market, but just want to make sure. It's framed in sealed Perspex box so I haven't taken it out.

Beware: fakes of these are much more common than genuine.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to pick them.

Your 'Spade' has the appearance of a Wang Mang, (7-22 AD), 1000 Cash coin. But, as has been mentioned, fakes of these coins are, unhappily, quite common. See this link for an example:-

Check the size and weight. It should be close to 57 x 21 mm and weigh approx. 12 grams.
