@cur, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that this nickel has been damaged—not a mint error. Finally, for completeness, can you please add the date this coin was minted to the thread? Thx.

Keep in mind a damaged coin is not a mint error. It is Post Strike Damage. Like a damaged fender on the car you've driving, it is not a factory error when you hit something. Same with coins. Some else damages the coin and you find it, it is a damage coin, not an error, or error coin. It was altered after the strike. A damaged coin is just a cull coin, face value only.
