This raw Trade dollar is listed for sale on ebay. Your comments and grade would be welcome.

I agree: pleasing coin, evenly patinated, at
EF-45.

Always have to be careful with these raw since they were and are heavily counterfeited. That said, this one appears to be a type 2 obverse and a type 2 reverse which is one good sign. I don't see any pimples on the devices or fields which is another good sign. Looks like the obverse rim may have been filed to see if it exposed a counterfeit base metal like brass or for silver testing. I would ask the seller for an accurate weight before taking the chance. Looks to be XF in my opinion.

Interesting comment about the scrape on obverse rim. On the ebay photos enlarged there are some small pot marks visible on Liberty's leg/dress.

No, the scrape on the rim got me off the coin. It sold on ebay two days ago for $339.

On Tuesday, at Heritage I was the under bidder on a 1877 CC Trade dollar AU53 PCGS that sold for $2520.
