So we recently had an interesting
TPG scenario, and we're left wondering who got this right (or wrong?).
We bought an 1885 5 cent, which was PCGS Large 5/5, AU details (cleaned). We thought it was EF45 but unfairly body-bagged, so we cracked it out to re-submit to ICCS. We hoped to get a straight 45 or 40.
Well... To our surprise; ICCS sends it back SMALL 5, without the 5/5, and EF40 cleaned. Not that it's upsetting as we're not talking a huge value difference, and it's still a marketable coin - we just thought this might be a cool topic for discussion!
-Does everyone agree with cleaned notes? We thought dipped, but not "cleaned".
-Grade opinion? Who's closer?
-Attributions? Is this a 5/5 and small vs. large?
All comments appreciated.
Sorry for the bad pictures, working on the macro setup as we speak!
