I know this coin is not at all eye appealing but it is silver not steel. It does not stick to a magnet and it makes a black mark on my makeup foundation. ..so I would think that it is an error coin but with no value because of the shape it's in..also has some interesting toning..the head and neck look copper and there's also purple toning.

Probably jumps to a magnet. As mentioned weight would be a determining factor:

In the 2.7 grams weight, is what a steel cent would be. If it were silver, the weight would be the same as a silver Dime. But looking at the strike, there is no way this was on a dime:

Note the location of the outside devices on the rim area:

The weight of the penny is 3.0 and it doesn't stick to a magnet and it leaves a black streak on my cheek I learned how to test silver and gold way back in the early 80's
So now it weighs as much of a bronze penny..? Now I'm really confused here's a pic of a 2007 Lincoln Memorial penny..

I am thinking plated, maybe with solder? The weight was just to help narrow things down. A worn coin that was plated would account for the near normal weight.
