From the photo, it appears that there may be fine circular marks as from a wire brush on a drill. I'm not interested in bidding on this coin, just trying to "brush" up on how to ID whizzed wonders...

Not sure if this really belongs in main forum or in eaby area- put it here as the general question might be of wider interest

Hmm, I tried highlihting the url and clicking the pic button, but just get an image icon without the image...

Can't say for sure if it has been whizzed based on the pics provided, but certainly a harsh cleaning. The lines are certainly from cleaning. To be sure if this is whizzed, I would have to see it in person.

I am currently working on a complete "what happened" coin set. I chose to use the Lincoln Cent so that all coins will have a base line. Some are cleaned using coin cleaners and everything else I could think of. I will post images and descriptions in a couple of weeks.
Rest in Peace

I will have to go along with ND on this one. It looks wizzed from the photograph. However the only thing I can say for sure that someone used a heavy brush to clean it and then attempted to re-tone it to hide the brush marks. The brush strokes were too deep to have this hiding thing to work effectively.

I agree. One way or another, it's been badly altered. It's difficult for me to tell the difference between harsh cleaning and whizzing from most pictures - even if it's highly magnified. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics and descriptions from ND with the different cleaners.

There is something a bit more subtle in this then the the apparent hair-lines. Look at the space between the lines of In God We Trust. Look at the difference in the color compared to the field ajacent to it.
