I am posting this Cent hopefully with better pictures than I've previously shared.I'm not sure what sort of error this is, if it isn't AMD. There are a few thin die cracks on the reverse. One is to the right of the R in AMERICA. Starts at the rim and ends at the top right of the Memorial, just above where the error/damage is. One starts at the rim at the N in ONE and ends at the Memorial stairs. Just a thought.... I'm surprised there isn't serious corrosion on the reverse where the innards of the coin are exposed. If more pictures are needed I'll be happy to post. Thank You for looking and sharing your opinion!

Split plating on the building. DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling) die wear on the fields of the single squeeze dies. This shows of the fields and not on the devices during the first phase of this die wear happens. It progresses into the second stage affecting the devices with what is called Ridge Ring that affects the fields and even the devices on the centers of the devices. Just die wear issues. So not a variety coin. Just a die event issue and a strike issue that split the plating. Spender. (the exposed zinc will start/continue to rot, and with time the coin will go away, as the plating becomes a discarded Hershey's kiss wrapper of copper.

What causes the split plating? Die Deterioration? Sorry if that's a stupid question... This is why I ask... Normally when you see something like this on metal it is usually caused by something striking it with enough force to leave an intention. Not sure how DD would cause the split plating. My female right brain (leftie) thinking tends to ask too many questions. Thank You Coop for the info

This is the example given for Split Plating.I have failed at finding one that has a gash deep enough to say... put the tips of 2 toothpicks in it and they will stay upright. Also the examples for SP are not three dimensional they are at most 2 dimensions and are basically missing the top layer of copper. SP looks like you had a stack of papers and ripped the top piece of paper in half and laid it back on the stack.
