1896 S Morgan Dollar For Thoughts

I think I did fair on this one.
I needed one for a place filler until I want to buy A higher Graded one.
She has a few long but light scratches.
No hairlines . Coin is darker than my pics but so are the darker areas.
Not sure why but I see many dark 1896-s Morgans out there.
Have at it and I will reveal what I paid in a few days.
I think she has the look of a VF-30 in hand. The few scratches may cause a issue .
Of course I had a 1901 with similar big but deeper scratches come back straight grade XF-40so who knows.
I dont think I will try to grade this one unless it goes with a bulk submission since its so cheap that way.

I think a VF30 is pretty much spot on for this coin.

Perhaps VF-35, but I think not higher.

I'm tempted to say EF-40 since it's an S mint and they aren't knockout strikes but, conservatively, at least VF-35.

I will say as far as eye appeal the coin and color look much better in hand than my photos indicate . Not that it looks a higher grade than I can capture but just nicer.One thing that does not show in the pics that does in hand you can see all the feathers on the right wing which look broken in the pic and she has some lighter chest feathers though mostly worn down.
Wish I could figure out better photos from my I phone 13.

Circling back on this one. I paid 105.00 at my local coin shop and thought it was a pretty fair price for this coin. I've seen many uglier VF coins going for 200 bucks or so
