Pulled this from a 1974 uncirculated set. Not only can you see the "spitting eagle," but also some outline of Washington on some areas of the reverse as well.

Notice the outline of the obverse on the both Eagles wings in the following pics:

Also, on the obverse it looks like part of Washington's nose is smashed or dented:

I don't see this classified as a variety in the Cherry Pickers Guide - I would figure it would be since other clashes like Franklin halves get them - or perhaps a 1974 clash like this is rare? Or perhaps undesirable?

I want to send it to PCGS, but if I understand them correctly, it seems they won't attribute it because it's not in the guide.

This is just a die event. Not a variety coin. On the sites they are listing known varieties. Just an interesting die event, but not a large premium for them. Always nice to know what you have, but would you spend up to $50 to tell them you have a quarter? Being in the holders don't matter to most buyers. (the submitter takes the loss when they try to sell them) I pay nothing extra for a slab coin.

Sorry about the confusion here. I know it's not a variety and know not to send it in for a slab. I was simply wondering/asking why it isn't and essentially wishing it was - and also sharing it here because it looks so interesting.

Ok, Nice coin. not many like this in sets of 1974 UN. I agree with COOP about Die event.

what I want to mention more it is the die use it is an re-polish and adjust Die. Probably this die has before been recycle, Die clash and the re-polish, and adjustments do not take everything out.

I will circle on your photos what I see, and let all to judge if I am right or no. I find some like this and almost of the end of the production. On those we can see traces of leaves in general. On collecting quarters we do not consider variety but just late strike.

Next time do not put the photos with your PIN what it is, do not help. Suggestion.
