Hi, I am new here and pretty new with collecting coins. I'm learning fast and I need a little help.
I have a bicentennial quarter that has what looks like some die damage next to the hat.

I am adding a picture. Let me know what you think.

This is raised. That photo was reduced in quality to upload but the original is raised.

Seem to be an old Die, which was remade to strike more coins. At the Hat level I will say die crack (in fact an re-polishing error, some was already find). To see the stage of the die is need full photos. Normally, the AMERICA letters are not like this. We have to see the full portlet.

It is coin damage. The cladding was pushed aside with the reeds from the outside of another coin. Just a spender, damaged coin:

OK... It is an odd piece. I can't see any indication of a reed pattern and the damage is a very small area. However, both responses seem valid. No other damage is noted on the coin so looks like I'm back where I started. I can upload a full photo of the coin but you will not be able to see any more than what I have uploaded. Thanks for response.
