Titus Fulvius Junius Quietus was a member of a family that conspired in 261 AD to overthrow Emperor Gallienus. To this end, Quietus' father and brother set out westwards with an army to assert their claim to power, but were defeated and killed. It's unclear how old Quietus was at the time, but it could've been that he was too young to accompany his father and brother on this campaign. Following the disastrous outcome, Quietus fled to the city of Emesa, where evidently he was murdered by a mob.

The effigy on this coin might well be taken as confirming that Quietus may not have been more than a child at the time. It's about 21 mm in diameter, and weighs just over 4 grams. There are traces of silvering extant. I have it as RIC 9 (Sear 10827), struck at Antioch.

Coins of Quietus scarce, but not rare.
Example pictured better than most.

....Very nice!...A lot of his coins are quite worn showing just the silhouette of his portrait..Yours however has good detail for the type, something I always look for is the eye being visible...Reverse is sweet too..Cool coin!

In the course of conducting a bit more research on this coin, I see that some examples are identified as being struck at Samosata, where a mint had been set up on account of Antioch at some points during this period having been occupied and plundered.

Is there a way to tell whether my specimen (or any, for that matter) was struck at one or the other of these two locations? And if so, does it affect an estimation as to rarity and/or value?

I think ( but I'm not 100% sure) that all Quietus and his brothers Macrianus' coinage was minted at Samosata..I think the confusion is due to the eastern mint coins of this period being attributed by RIC to Antioch. While later references (Göbl) attributed the same coins to Samosata or "uncertain eastern mint" as the scholarship pointing to Antioch as the mint city was rethought.
