This coin is now the topic of discussion on VAMworld2.
It's worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 as a VAM14.2.

Here's the link to Vamworld. Those who commented think this coin is a 14.2.

http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewt...p?f=4&t=6519

Here is the pic on PCGS. I enlarged the ear area. Sure looks like a 14.2 IMO, not the rare 14.20 with the longer triangle area further in the ear. It has the same obverse die cracks like the 14.2. All examples of the 14.20 I've seen do not have these cracks. IMO whoever owns this coin and wants to sell it should inform a buyer this may be a PCGS error or send it to PCGS for a second look. I would not want to spend extra money on questionable rare variety. As a 14.2 it's still a really nice coin.

I checked the verification number on PCGS and it says it is a 14.2. So it seems the label was made incorrectly.

Some collectors have stated grading companies don't have the same quality control as they used to. Thousands of coins perhaps are briefly examined and mistakes are made.

I think the more likely scenario is PCGS caught wind of their attribution blunder and updated the web site with the correct VAM number.

Well that is likely PCGS fixed the online VAM number, but makes me wonder if the owner will keep the bad label.

Anyone in the market for a 14.20 for their 8tf set will know this one is not.

Sorry, forgot about this thread.
Stacks Bower reviewed the coin and verified it was labeled incorrectly. The coin is sitting with PCGS for reconsideration.
