Definitely not advertised properly. This listing made me laugh but I'm pretty sure they are breaking some rules. I have reported them but I know we have some members here with a little more "sway". I would say Canadian dollars aren't even the same colour as gold but they just call it a gold dollar, if it said golden I might have ignored it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284778431820?LH_BIN=1Also should be noted the seller has 0 sales but some how a review saying they had a sale and cancelled it. Item description also has it listed as a cent lol. But ya hopefully no one falls for this. Edited by Wrekkdd 04/22/2022 09:08 am

Anyone who buys a heavily-circulated and damaged 1987 Loon dollar for $100 (or more) has only themselves to blame!

I really hope the seller dosnt think this coin is actually gold lol, it is a 2 second search. To me with the lack of sales and the vague description but pricing the coin as if maybe this is a gold coin seems more of a scam then ignorance. The whole listing is just kind of off in every way.hopfully it goes poof but I'm not sure what ebay is okay with or not. On a side note the report function dosnt allow me to send a message to ebay it's just vague categories, unless I'm missing something. Edit: should I view ebay the same as etsey? I'm a buyer and after all this time haven't even sold coins I plan to sell lol, I plan on upgrading as I go. This kind of thing just limits the trusted market and harms the hobby.

Looks like it may have resided in the bottom of a cup holder in someone's car.

as far as I know Etsy doesn't have much in the way of listing rules, and cant comment on how safe the platform is. Bay is great if you are a buyer. but as a seller unless you ship tracked (cost prohibitive for anything under $100) you are opening yourself up to so many avenues for a buyer to request their money back. if you have a handful of coins to sell it is sometimes better to sell them as a group as it helps justify & spread out the shipping costs. OR if you have a decent amount add a $1 or $2 to shipping and put the excess aside as "insurance" for when you get burned.

I get ebay is not etsey yet but someone listing a "gold" coin for a high starting bid of 100$ and BIN 500$ when there is no gold content just a "golden" colour, is no different then plating a penny calling it a gold penny with no description and asking 300$ for it. If this auction isn't breaking threads then I feel bad for ebay buyers with money to spare. To me selling a common stained dollar as a gold dollar for 100-500$.. that's just wrong. Edit: to be clear it is priced around what a smaller gold coin would sell for, advertising it as a gold coin and pricing it low for gold but way way to high for a common coin is just trying to decide someone who may "jump the gun" the ebay seller has no history so it would not be hard for them to just remake an account and do the same thing... This is just a baiting listing and it's falsely advertised. Second edit: it's essentially click bate like the title of my list lol. How many of you went to this post expecting to see a gold dollar? Anyways.... So is this listing not breaking rules by advertising this as a gold coin?

Quote: lewy means the seller is stupid with no cure.... Thanks. I didn't think he was calling me stupid or anything I was more curious about the "spent more time then warranted" comment lol as I didn't spend much time to report and post about it. Anyways it gone The seller had three coins for sale, two of which are way over priced but they are what they are, the only reason this one in particular bothered me was the fact that it said "gold coin" I didn't report the other sales because they are just over priced but not falsely advertised as a different bullion.

Wrekkdd, there is so much stuff out there that can get your goat, you need to let it go most of the time or you'll drive yourself....loonie. (pun intended). That loon was an example, but note, no one was biting. Your intentions are grand, but there are bigger battles to overcome out there than a poorly listed "gold" loonie. Cheers.

@loonielewy, I know your right about this... I don't use ebay often but I guess there is times a listing just makes me thing "WOW" in a bad way. I do get what you are saying though. The seller was brand new with no bite on bidding, all it takes is one person to hit BIN thinking it's a piece of gold though. I simply report em as I see em lol, dosnt cost me much time and as I said the seller has other coins, check the pricing out. I had no issue with those listings but if I see a listing like that I like to report it. I suppose I can just report and not ask for any help on the CCF and forget about it though. To each there own. This thread didn't take much if my time as I can post while walking or on a bus etc. Also my time spent is up to me lol. This is why I questioned the response... Now if you ment wasting the time of ccf members then I understand.. my title was kind of click bate. So I apologize for that.
