Just curious... Other than the "whatever the buyer is willing to pay for", which would hold more value to you; RADAR, REPEATER, LADDER, etc...? I have acquired more REPEATERs than RADARs, have yet to find a LADDER note.

Your thoughts, please.

I personally do not have much interest in fancy serial numbers but many currency collectors pay big money for them. The only type of serial number that I would pay a substantial premium for would be a note with 5+ zeroes- how low can you go?
Radar,-Repeater,-Ladder,-Etc...

Some thoughts from a person who doesn't collect them.

I would not pay extra for a "ladder" note at all. Never. A "repeater" would be worth more for me if it was e.g. 49494949, and not e.g. 18431843. Radars are quite interesting, as are low serial numbers..

Stricktly speaking I think a ladder is rarest and thus would command the highest premium. You get a radar every 1 in 10,000 notes. A full 8 digit ladder is one in 33,333,333. I think the odds of a two digit repeater are 1 in 1.23 million.

Of course if you have a four digit repeater 12341234 those are more common than two digits 12121212. A seven digit ladder is more common than an eight digit ladder. A two digit ladder happens at least 1 in every 10 notes.

Now - for the answer you don't want it depends on if you can find the buyer who collects that thing. Other than as an opportunity to make money by immediatly reselling something - most fancy serials I would not buy.

I've paid $10 for a note in fine that was 22288888. I would not pay more than face for 22299999. I would pay a lot for 28282828 I would not pay more than face for 38383838. I would pay a lot for 28822828 I would not pay more than face for 29922992 (a radar).

As you can see - I collect 2's and 8's.

When I buy them I will wind up paying a lot (probably close to $2,000 each) for 22222222 and 88888888, however I wouldn't pay $100 for 00000002 (unless I could sell it for more).

If you find something interesting - if in doubt save it and double check.
