I know these were created as collectors pieces and know very few came out over 66 but was wondering everyone's thoughts on this one.

I don't have experience on grading these. I'm just looking at photo grade on PCGS. Your coin looks really clean. The detail in the hair leads me to believe the strike is just a bit weak to go above ms65. Again, not experienced enough to make the call. A stronger strike with more distracting marks could be ms66 so this one with less marks and a slightly weaker strike might go ms66 too.

Subjective. If I was marking my 2x2 I would put a gem label on it. But I put gem on all my ms65/ms66 tough calls. Ms66 labels only go on my 2x2's that I am very confident have a good chance at a TPG's gem grade.

Fields look really clean. On the other hand, there are dings on the back of the neck, rubbing on the jaw line and bottom of the bust, and I'm not sure what those black lines between the R and T are from. I'm not really sure how this would grade out, but I'm sure JBuck and others will have a better idea.

The local pawn shop was selling the silver set from 71-74. Of course the 73 was the most dinged up. I might go back and pick up the other 3 today just to have all 4 if they are still there. $20 each coin, think it's worth it?

Panzaldi thanks for thoughts - this piece has been taken out of the original commemorative package and put back in as it was no longer sealed, most likely played with. The rest of the collection has uncirculated packaging unopened.

The original mint packaging for the blue envelope Ikes literally came apart over time. I think 1971 was the worst.
