Well, I knew this day was coming... I started collecting currency in 2019 after about 50 years of collecting coins, but told myself "large size U.S. notes only!". That didn't last long - in 2020 I purchased my first small size U.S. notes and Confederate notes and I've now got over 120 certified notes in my collection. This week I just purchased my first examples of fractional currency, thanks in part to the bad influence of hfjacinto! To be honest, I really didn't need any prodding - it was going to happen anyway... Here's to new adventures in collecting!

Those are nice.I really only collect the smaller fractional and mostly colonial notes. Quite a history. Just getting a few of the stamp holder coins lately, which are neat to me

Thanks, Lucky. I'm sure I'll eventually start picking up an example or two of colonial currency, though I'm really thinking my next step will be obsolete currency and maybe focusing only on notes from one state. The encased postage stamps I find interesting, but not something I have any desire to collect. Yet...

@hokie!!! Sorry had to wait a minute for my eyes to pop back into my head. That's the way to start a collection!!! Sadly I'm going to burn all my fractionals after seeing yours!!! Seriously well done!

@keith12, I completed my graduate degree at Virginia Tech in 1982, and remain a big fan of their sports programs to this day!

My favourite US notes, yours are a bit higher grade than mine so good start!
I just need the Lincoln 50c to complete a type set, then I guess I could add some more variants.

Thanks! My goal is to start with the basic type set. However, I'm sure at some point I'll start picking up some of the main varieties, as well.
