Definitely early Islamic, probably an Abbasid falus by the stretched-out letters. Identifying early Islamic bronzes isn't easy at the best of times, as they are much less consistent in design than the gold and silver coins. In this case, the information needed to confirm the mint and date is going to be in the legends running around the rim on both sides, and there's not much of those legends left on this coin.

Certainly 'Abbasid. Although the date and mint are worn, several distinctive elements (the two pellets below the obverse, the star above the reverse and barakah ["praise"] below the reverse) suggest that the coin was struck at al-Kufah in Iraq in the mid AH 160s (early AD 780s). The abundant bronzes of al-Kufah are some of the most common early Islamic coins.
