1984 Lincoln Penny, Die Crack On Reverse, And Question Regarding Date

A smaller second one doesn't show as well on the photo but goes through the B. It's possible it's just damage that occurred after circulating. I'm curious regarding the "4" in the date. Does it seem high compared to the other numbers and if so is this common? Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/03/2022 3:22 pm Note the obverse devices are smaller than normal on the Motto and Liberty. So there was an issue with Ridge Ring, that when it was polished off, the devices were reduced in size. Thus the fields are showing rolling lines and looking like recent polishing happened. But not because of the die polishing, and the fields looking clean, doesn't make this an EDS die. It is an aging die. So looking at the devices, you will see it true age.
