Yes it looks like MD on a 1982 Small date Philly minted cent. Most likely a zinc coin, judging by the small bumps on the fields. (the bumps could be caused by zinc dust under the copper plating)

When you look to close, perspective goes away. You need to see the devices side by side with a normal coin to see if something is going on, or are you looking at a high bounce Machine Doubling issue. On a DDR, not just one device will be affected, but several next to each other:

Look at the centers of the devices to see the spread on a doubled die, not on the outside edge of the devices. That is where you will see Machine Doubling and die wear.

Note on these devices that the spread makes the devices wider looking than normal:

Again, look for the spread on the centers of the devices. Also not on this dies devices. There are hardly any die wear on this die. So I'm thinking that because this die is so hard to find, it was pulled early and thus there will be few of these doubled dies found. (A very low number like the 1969-S that is another hard one to find)
