I feel this ought to be easy for me to identify, but I'm having some difficulty pinning it down, which always worries me from the standpoint of authenticity.

Only about 15.5 mm in diameter, with the weight coming in at 2.6 grams.

It appears to depict a youth as Caesar, and to my eye looks Severan in style, plus I can read ANTON in the obverse legend. So I was initially inclined towards its being an issue of Caracalla. But I interpret the reverse as MARTI CONSERVATORI which is a motif associated with coinage of the 4th century. So I'm rather baffled on this one.

It is indeed Caracalla Caesar, with MARTI VLTORI on the reverse.

I can see now that it's indeed MARTI VLTORI (I'd remark that this reverse die may have been in a late state). So RIC 11 (Sear 6675).

I was taken by the portrait on this. Certainly the youngest looking Caracalla I've ever had.
