This one appears to be silver and is approx 16mm wide.

looks like a Indian Rupee #y17 minted at the Haidarabad mint and it is silver

Yep, Indian States - Hyderabad, silver rupee. KM/Y# 17, dated AH 1288 (AD 1871). Common enough, but this one's in very nice condition (nicer than the one pictured in Krause) - I'd call it EF.
