yes, they seem to be loaded with die chips as well as cracks. I kept the best-looking ones or the ones with the most chips and cracks

You might check to see if they are in the same locations. (meaning they were struck from the same die) Some may show different more/less chips. So you might like to same some the progressive number of chips, like die break down happening.

Very interesting. I spent an hour coin rolling coin 2021-P dimes and discovered about 20 with the same or similar skull die cracks, along with nice sized chips over the eye and in the chin. If you can, please post photos of the other dime you kept. I may have some that show a similar and significant progression of the die breaking down.

Like coop mentioned. See if chips are in the same place plus progression worse. It's no big deal to some but I like doing that just to see how far it goes until they change dies. I find it just something different to do. I've kept some with up to 5 different size cracks leading up to a Spike Head on a few Lincoln's. On this 5th coin is that a crack? If so does it go further into the hair or is it a scratch?  Edited by RobO411

Maybe that one has a spike head. The one I put the arrow on which number is it and what is it pointing at?

Custodian 2018--Thanks for posting the additional pics. The 2021-P dimes I found do not have the exact same skull crack as yours, but they are similar. So, not really sure if this is a die progression or not.   |
