The 1954 $1.00 *B/M Replacement Note without a front plate number runs from 0000001 - 1160000
However I have a unicorn to that as I have found a *B/M 0977146 with FPN 62 BPN 65
Just wondering if anyone out there has a serial close to this and what is on their note?

Where did you get the information that the ones without a face place number had serial numbers 0000001 to 1160000?

The only ones I have recorded without a face plate number have serial numbers in the range 0341119 to 0447035.

All the rest in your range that I have recorded do have a face plate number.

- that's the range I'm familiar with too.

Here's one (*B/M0410886) I posted a couple years ago within that range:

Here is one source of that misinformation;

I've seen it elsewhere as well but can't recall where.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Whenever I drop in on "CoinsandCanada" I often wonder how could they stray away any further from what currency collectors need to know (& how could they possibly get off track so fast). I mean, just look at this summary for the 2013 polymer $10.00:
1954-$1.00-*b/M-Replacement-Unicorn
There is Wilkins-Poloz FTH when it should be Macklem-Carney FTH & the FTN prefix (which is not even tough). It bothers me b/c I have seen the Canadian Numismatic Co auction describe the W-P FTH like its scarce when I know several collectors who have high grade UNC examples (& 683 were reported on the SNDB)! This could be a huge fiasco once collectors who've paid $500 for a common note come to the realization that its a common change-over!

With the polymer $20 it gets even worse. There's nothing about the Macklem-Carney BSW prefix nor the Wilkins-Poloz FVP. Anyway, I suppose the folks over there try but it just never ceases to amaze me the misinformation that has been propagated at the 'coinsandcanada" site. Truly a coin collectors hang-out by the look of the posts/comments on their forum!

I knew I had a few more of these *BM replacements in circulated condition hanging around and I just found them.
I checked them against the range given above from 0341119 to 0447035 and found two that exceed that range by quite a bit.
I'm surprised that nobody seems to have pinpointed this range to any degree of accuracy after so many year.

Cheers, Bill

The numbers that are in any registry is only as good as the data that is submitted by collectors. The range will probably be in flux for a few years yet. You should report your findings to coinsandcanada as I believe that is the site keeps the *BM No FPN registry. They can then extend the serial # range to 0458358.
