On other forums there has been much banter about when King Charles III image will appear on the $20 note & replace QEII.

In 1952, Princess Elizabeth ascended to the throne after her father died. It was not until 1954 that the Bank of Canada released a new series with her image on the note (now known as the Devil's Face series which lasted 2 years). Personally, at the rate Canadian's wear out their TWENTIES (& the trickle rate they're being released), I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a change by 2025. According to Woodland from the RCNA the earliest coin transition would be 2023.

Below is the CBC article where I attained Woodland's prediction:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/king...ey-1.6578839

Anybody care to speculate?

You are comparing 1950 tech to today, when an image of the new King is approved things will move very quickly, the Bank of England has already announced to withdraw old notes, one would guess they already have an approved image and are printing new notes with the new King. I was hoping Charles would step aside and allow his son to become King, obviously now that is not going to happen.

I was hoping for the youngest grandson, Prince Louis.

Charles has waited longer than most men live to ascend to the throne. Why on earth would he pass it to William?

Charles has a tremendous amount of baggage with little goodwill from UK and Commonwealth partners, most people if given a choice would agree a younger William would have been a better choice but it is what it is. We only have one bill with the Queen so maybe we do another commemorative 20 dollar bill

I've just copied a statement off the Royal Canadian Mint's site:

Quote:
A Statement from the Royal Canadian Mint
The Royal Canadian Mint wishes to remind consumers and businesses that the royal succession has no impact on coins currently in circulation. A change in Monarch does not require the replacement of circulation coins. Therefore, Canadians consumers and businesses can continue using all coins currently in circulation.

We are working on a plan to issue a variety of coins commemorating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's lifetime of service as Queen of Canada. The Mint will also support the Government of Canada as it works to determine a new obverse (heads) design for future Canadian coins

From this statement, I would assume that they're in no rush to make any big changes. Almost everyone who has chipped in on this topic (on other forums) seems to be of the mind that the earliest transition would be 2023 for coins & later for notes. I have followed the extreme slow trickle of $20 prefixes (several FY_ & FZ_ prefixes have only seen half the 10M serial numbers) & very few reported. There are about 20 prefixes that have very few numbers reported (or seen).

An update (as discussed in the WORLD section) from the CPMF:

The Bank of Canada points out that no changes will occur until parliament makes a decision to proceed.

No idea why they asked Woodland. they should have interviewed the president of the Canadian Paper money society.

As far as the U.K. banknotes are concerned ,none of the current Polymer series https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/ban...nt-banknotes are being withdrawn or declared non legal tender.

They have only been out since 2016 with the most recent issued mid 2021 so there is no good reason for their removal or placement unless they are mutilated or badly worn.

It will be well over a year before notes featuring King Charles III begin entering circulation assuming that the ones featuring HM QEII are no longer being printed. https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/ban...es-banknotes

Canada and other Commonwealth nations on the other hand are quite content to hold off until the Coronation in May of this year.
