Would appreciate any lesson anyone can give me on this 1796 10 Kopecks. I just picked it up at an estate sale...no way I could leave without it. Only provenance I can share is that it came from an extremely nice home here in Kansas City. I've been collecting US and European coins for a long time but this is my first Russian coin.
The monogram is more elaborate on this than some others I've seen online and just not sure if this is young, old or really old. Or if it's a novodel, fake or original. It's 45.82 grams, 40mm diameter and 4mm thick. Chunky copper for sure. Thanks in advance

By no means an expert on these.
Genuine novodels can be highly valuable, - this leaves the possibility for the less than honest to copy them.
Authenticity for coin pictured needs to be verified.

I have a copy? of a novodel 1 Kopec, appears to be far less convincing than coin pictured.

Really appreciate it. I measured it again and it might be 42mm with a stretch but definitely not 46mm-48mm. I'm going to go under the assumption that it's a fairly well done modern copy and I might submit it at some point just to see if that's correct. I'm alright with that...I didn't pay a crazy amount for it.

"novodel" means "remake", but is sometimes used to mean "replica" or "copy" or "counterfeit".

Novodel is not mean replica or copy or counterfeit. Please do not get this term mixed up. It's fraudulent sellers that are not using this terminology correctly.

This is not a novodel. It is at best a replica.
