Trying out the NGC Registry for some of my favorite coins in my collection. Not sure if this is the best way to track my favorites but will keep testing different presentations. Very cool set!
NGC really needs to step up their UI/UX for the custom registry, it is super dated and clunky.

This sort of registry set agrees with my kind of collecting philosophy.  It is my aim to try to attempt to build a collection that represents the development of all coinages around the World in all cultures, since the invention of coinage. Obviously, such a collection is impossible to complete (that's OK), but I have been actively been at it for the last 30 or 40 years, Nevertheless, as the collection now stands, it already tells a fairly reasonable numismatic narrative. Along the way, I have learnt an enormous about World cultures, their economic development, and why they declined and faded out. All illustrated by their coinage hardware. My collection in most cases not quite up the the condition standards of the NGC registry set. However, it currently comprises about 500 coins, and includes at least one example of a representative coin from each major World culture, and in most cases, multiples in all three metals. Modern machine made coins after about 1800 comprise about half of the collection. That is to be expected, as World populations grow, along with their economic activity.

Look forward to someday seeing it and enjoying it with you. Sometimes the presentation is tough as these online publishing resources appear to only be for PCGS/NGC slabs. If you have raw, it won't show in the gallery.
I've thought about creating facebook, instagram or even tiktok accounts, solely for each to hold one coherent set of images for a coin collection. The tiktok short video format would be great to show not an image but a short video of each coin in the collection as it pans and tilts at different angles under a light to see the moving luster as light hits the coin.

You have a lot of very nice coins.
I'm curious about your decision to choose a white 1916 SLQ in MS66. It's a great coin, yet you had other options to consider in terms of date, condition, toning, and cost. Why was this particular coin the ONE for you?

You are right that I had a choice. The 1916 SLQ isn't really rare. You can choose from many high grade examples unlike other issues where you just get what you get. Unlike the 1918/7-S and the 1927-S in gem FH, which have pricing that rises exponentially as you climb through the grades, the 16 goes up very reasonably even in gem FH grades. Would I like to have a 18/7s or 27s in the same grade? Sure but those are really rare and cost 10x what I paid for this if they can be found at all.
White and toned coins can have high and low eye appeal. I chose this coin because it had high eye appeal (in my opinion), did not have distracting marks, was well-struck and was reasonably priced, relatively speaking compared to really rare coins. Also, the 1916 slq has an accompanying lore or story that most coin collectors are familiar with due to the many people who have written positively about it over decades. It all boils down to "I liked it" which is my main criterion.

Picked up a couple of ancients today that I would like to add to this set to display but unfortunately they are raw so I won't be able to add them. CORINTH c.350 BC Di Stater - PEGASOS Spec: 22mm silver Di Stater 8.49 grams Obv: Pegasos flying left, koppa below Rev: Helmeted head of Athena in good style facing left, AI behind, bulls head on tripod behind Ref: (?)   Ancient Greece. Akarnania, Leukas, c. 345-307 BC. Silver stater. Obv: Helmeted head of Athena right; amphora with grapes and "A" behind Rev: Pegasus flying left, pellet below. Spec: 20.5 mm, 8.14 g. Ref: Pegasi II 128v. Prov: Purchased in Los Angeles in the mid 1960's.
