HI 021048 Welcome
most likely everyone here is going to tell you that we would need pics to be sure. Try getting a photobucket account (its free) as that will let you upload full size photos to the forum

Welcome to the Forum ,021048 Like malissadawn, said, you really need pics to be sure, but what you have are some really nice coins. Your 1870 (I presume, not 1670) has a mintage of about 10,000, value approx.$500.00 Your 1880 only has a mintage of 2500, value approx. $5,000, very rare coin from Newfoundland, that's if they are about AU condition.

Here's mine VVV Warning: some sensitive viewers may be offended at the picture contained below. ... well, at least I got a deal! ... and I stick with the story that fishermen holed them to pin into their pockets so they wouldn't lose them.

What a shame, for such a nice coin. With a mintage of 25,000 it still has some value, in F-12 it's about $150.00, of course yours would be G-3, yeah! your right, the fishermen and hunters holed them so they would not lose them. $2.00 in 1882 was a lot of money.
