Hi...
I have done extensive research and cannot find a definitive answer for this possible error I am finding on quite a few coins lately.

The error? is on the Obverse at the bottom of Washington's bust and it is around the initials of the artist.

Opinions/answers are very appreciated.

That is a die crack, starting to form die chips on that area of the bust. Something that I've recently thought of these are probably a die event that happens after a die clash, thus the crack is often see on this area of the quarter obverse design. Sometimes it spreads. (Possibly from another die clash event happens) And sometimes a Cud happen on that area:

But the clash would probably have to be a very strong clash to cause the Cud to form.

Thank you. It didn't make sense that it was only a die chip as it looks different. Your answer seems to be right on target. I am seeing so many of these on the quarters from 2000 it almost seems to be a very common problem. Similar to Drooling George. I'll put this down in my book as an error and keep my eyes open for more.

That's a die event, not an error, errorluvr.

@err, if you could also add the date and mintmark for this quarter too that would be awesome. As I mentioned on your other thread including this information helps us with the search functionality of this site. Thx.

with the above
Doing research on something that you don't know the name of makes it difficult to get any meaningful information.
