I thought I would share these press photos, I think they are pretty cool! The first is about an error coin so hopefully it is not against the rules! If not allowed my apology in advance!
Extremes important for the community your post. The third photo show how they cancel the coins in time, (When I say it is a cancel coin on this forum peoples laugh). The fifth also very important for collationer's.
Pretty interesting on the clipped Kennedy half news print. but the other coins shown, to me, looks scratched, the marks look incused not raised as I would expect if the dies were 'canceled' and scratched out themselves.
I think these are just marks on the AP-Wire photo itself and not on the coins in the photos. It shows which coin this newspaper decided to use for print in the article about the new, soon to be released bicentennial coins. These photos are the actual wire photos used to prepare the stories in the newspapers, hence the measurements and markings on the photos. I think the photos went out over the "Wire" for papers to use if they chose. The original story was then cutout and kept with the press photo. Thats my understanding.
