Hi.

Can anyone tell me if this is a minting fault or damage after minting.
I tend to think minting fault because the letter 'v' is still there, it hasn't been scraped off. What do you think?

It looks like a lamination error to me, but I'm not very well versed in errors. It does look like damage that occurred at the Mint one way or another (in my opinion).

I agree with you Susan. my guess is Lamination or planchet processing error.
There is another trhead with the same coin (at least same king:) but the error is much greater with same characteristics.

Thanks for the responses.

Does this sort of fault make the coin worth any more?

I don't know how much extra value it would have, but I know a lot of error collectors would think it's pretty cool! Looks like a little bit of a filled die going on there too. Thanks for sharing!
