My thoughts are environmental damage build up and not a die crack because it looks like rusting on what looks like die crack.

Looks like something has been spilled on it and dried.
Definitely not a Die Crack

Suggest giving the coin a week-long soak in 100% acetone. Might clear-up some of the crud (perhaps).

This one is a bit weird. I'd be interested to see what it looks like when cleaned up a bit. In addition to the stuff going on with the front, the right wheat stalk might have a die chip and EPU looks oddly sunken.

Ok I took the OP's image and added his coin to it 3 times in different locations to simulate additional coins piled on top on the original cent. I used the OP's image several times to maintain the size and arc of the coin.
