westcoin- David Lisot is actually your friend?

He seems like a great guy!

I watch all of his Coin Television videos on youtube, even the older videos when he sat down and interviewed numismatists from the late 80's.

I would like to meet him one day.

Yep he lives about 5 miles from me in North Dallas area, and though I didn't know him back in my early days of coin dealing, he was also in the Denver area when I was so long ago. David had a stroke a couple of years ago and is doing well now, I sure hope he is around for a long time yet.

I just spoke with Wayne Homren, (E-Sylum editor) last week, and he told me there are a bunch of new videos David is working on the editing that should hit the NNP soon from the last PAN show.

fortcollins, I would assume your customer knows the date and mintmark of the bags content or are they the slightly lighter weight bags of circulated dollars?

He's a collector, and curiosity got the better of him. He cheated.

(I would have, too.) He shared a peek in each bag. It was fun.

Of course there are original bags still out there. People have short memories. Within the past six years or so, two hoards of original bags picked up in the treasury disbursal of the early 1960's have come on the market totaling 25 or so bags. I believe one was a group of 11 bags and the other was 16 bags. I'm sure there are still other hoards such as those out there.

Biggest hoard outside of the Treasury/GSA hord was the Continental Illinois Hoard. 1,500 bags of silver dollars. I'm not sure how many dealer were involved with buying that hoard, but Leon Hendrickson was one of them and he bought a large portion of it. So large that in order to recover money during the silver run up of 79/80 he sent 300 bags of Unc 1883-O dollars to the smelters. It was a common date and just a year or two earlier you had difficulty moving Unc coins to collectors for $10. Now the silver in them was worth $35 and he would be paid immediately. It was a no brainer decision.
