To be honest I have looked through the net to try establish whether this is worth posting, but as a total novice I simply have no idea. Your help truly appreciated.

It's a normal 1990 Philadelphia Mint cent. Mintage was 6,851,765,000, so it's a very common coin indeed!

What is your question?
I assume you mean no mm when you say no s mark.
If that is the case then it just means it was minted in
Philadelphia.
Also it would help if you cropped your pictures in the future.

Thanks for your help. Could you tell me what makes a coin which has no errors a collectible/desirable. Does it mean it must be uncirculated to have some sort of value. Does it also mean that all others, excluding errors, are just spending money.
Thanks again

There is a 90 no mint mark proof. I believe the op is asking if this is it. No it's not. This is a common business strike.

Common memorial cent--perhaps mid-range AU.

Here's a Photoshop side-by-side of the 1990-S Proof, the 1990(P) Circulation strike and the 1990 "No S" Proof variety.

for moderns like LMC's the coin would need to grade at least MS66 before it has any value. any coin in circulation is not going to make that grade.

here is what a 66 and 67 look like

In your next posts, please crop your photos to the edges of your coin. This will increase the size of your coin photos too.

There is a huge amount of ignorance to our hobby.

This whole "no S" error has been very popular lately.
You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.
