I think it is every collectors dream to have a 'piece of eight' or a gold doubloon from a pirates ship - I know I did (and still do).

This is one of the coin I have my eyes on. Coin from the Lucayan beach treasure. Atocha and Santa Margarita are too expensive for me unfortunately. This one is from Spice Island Shipwreck, the thing is that I can't find much information about Spice Island Shipwreck. And this 8 Reales from El Cazador. What you think is fair price for each of them, as a total newbie in Shipwreck/treasure coins, I'm not sure about the prices. Thanks!

Regarding the El Cazadore, 1783 is by far the most common date. For me, that specimen lacks for eye appeal unless it's being offered for dirt cheap. Be patient and find one that calls to your soul at the right price. These are common on ebay to the point you don't need to sweat seeing more, you will in a day or two. The Lucayan looks pretty nice, not seeing much corrosion. The Spice Island shows some corrosion, but is still an Ok specimen. In your research, how common are these, and how is this quality verses others of the wreck? How do you feel about the price vs other sold listings on ebay? Remember these shipwreck coins sat in saltwater for centuries. Corrosion is the norm. Question is about eye appeal and how much remains.

Ended buying the Lucayan coin, after some research I think the price was good and the mystery around the treasure got me. When I get it, will share photos. Now hunting again!

RE: Lucayan Beach wreck - note that having the original Spink case + paper insert comprises a good portion of the prices these pieces bring.

First one, then two, then a dozen. Shipwreck coins have a way of multiplying.
The last Sedwick auction was a lot of fun, but bargains were scarce.
I satisfied the desire for a doubloon (gold 2 escudos, also called pistoles) by buying a 1788 non shipwreck example. The early shipwreck cobs sell for thousands of dollars, while the later ones are common and sell for hundreds.

The old catalogs are very interesting to browse through. Sedwick has also written a book which describes all the known wrecks.
