Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I obtained all my grandpa's coins, this one stood out and I couldn't find anything on it, it could be fake I have no idea,he's been dead for 30 years, it's just been sitting in a tin.

Someone said it looked plated, I don't know what that means if it is or isn't, did they have fake coins back in the day?

Looks like it has been plated, possibly a high school experiment.
