Good morning all
Im an Aussie girl and a newbie to this forum..actually I'm a newbie to all things coin related! Well, other than knowing how to spend them of course! I've had a quick look around here and I like what I see...You seem like a very friendly respectful and knowledgeable bunch! It was a 1988 10cent coin that helped me find my way here today.. I was getting some money out of my wallet when something about this coin caught my eye..after searching the net for days, I am yet to find a coin with similar features..in saying that, this could just be a common error coin that someone like me with no prior knowledge of coins would know nothing about. I will head over and upload some pics so hopefully you nice people can shed some light for me. After everything I've read on the net lately I'pm shocked to learn how valuable some coins are and I cringe to think how many rare or valuable coins would have passed through my hands over the years! In future I will study every coin I come across! Watch out boys Mumzy's got a new hobby!

LovesitCoinStyle: to the CCF, from a collector in Sydney.

Just remember, if you are a young mum, keep your coins well away from preschoolers.
When my son was about two yrs old, he swallowed a coin, and choked on it.

Everything went silent, and as every mum knows, toddlers are rarely silent. I saw him in the loungeroom looking up with a pained face, with no sound. I rushed straight at him, turned him upside down, and slapped him quite hard between the shoulders.
Out popped an Aussie 10 Cent coin, I felt like I had just hit the jackpot !

Not 24 hours earlier, I had read on just a subject in a mother craft magazine.

He is now an avid collector of English coins and has a complete portrait set in silver shillings, of British Monarchs, Charles 11 to Elizabeth 11. covering a period of more than 400 years.

Although I am now a grandpa, I still collect any interesting coin that comes my way from packet change, just as a kid would do, and have been doing this for the last 15 years or so. So get in there, and encourage your elementary school kids.
