I think it's a regular Panamanian coin. Do you have a picture? Or can you compare it to a half dollar, quarter, dime etc and see if the sizes match?

I assume this is something like your coin?

It's not "v.n." - it's "un", Spanish for "one"; they've just used a V-shaped letter U on these coins (as you can also see on the other side, in REPVBLICA). Your coin is a 1 balboa, probably silver-dollar-sized.

It sounds like it's been gilt, and had jewellery mounts attached to it. This pretty much ruins it's value as a collectable coin. However, it might still have intrinsic value, if they've used a silver balboa instead of a base-metal one. What's the date of yours?

I should also mention that I've seen fake balboas been turned into jewellery and souvenir items, too.
