I usually collect ancients but I do have a few other coins lying around (about 10,000 odd I think) that I never got around to photographing or properly cataloguing - most were collected way before computers and databases.

So - as I am doing this - kinda randomly - I thought it would be a fun thread to see how many coins I could get in a row - starting from the smallest denomination up to the largest. The rules I set were - no two countries the same, - I must own them all, but that's about it - and it is only a bit of fun,

so first up is this one, a 1/192 of a Rixdollar from Ceylon (George III)

This is a pretty unusual denomination - likely based on weight. There is a 1/96 example too but I can't show it here as it is also from Ceylon

Not as many as that -- I haven't that many photographed yet - I think there will be 25 or so in total in this thread -- I know there are many blanks -- I can't find that Cyprus 9 piastres (doh!) but we'll see

Second up then is this one from one of the Channel Islands, Jersey to be exact - with the unusal denomination of 1/24 shilling

Number 3 is a coin from Nepal -- really just a bullion coin - but it "weighs in" haha at 1/16 mohur.

Number four is quite a common coin -- actually a very common coin - a 1/12 anna from India -- collecting the entire series of these in excellent condition is a distinct possibility at little cost

Fifth up then is a very strange coin - some bullet money from Siam (now Thailand)

I himmed and hawed about including this one as there is not a lot to see really - but the things are so unusual that I decided to do it anyway

There are lots and lots of quarters around but I went with this one which was issued by the British East India Company -- different from British India (ie the Crown) so I haven't cheated :)

I do have a 4 1/2 denomination but will have to pass on it as I don't have it photographed but to move to my own pet area

A 5 assaria from Marcianopolis - issued by Marcrinus and Diadumenian in 217-218 AD

This shows Apollo in the pose after a famous Greek Sculptor on the reverse and is - out of all these particular coins - my fav...
