Am I seeing things or is there a doubled ear to the south west on this penny?

I don't think that you are seeing what I am. I mean the whole ear not just the tip.

I'm thinking it's a well-placed hit received early in the coin's life--then worn through circulation.

What I'm seeing is another whole ear totally to the south west of the original one.

I cannot think of anyway that, that could be a second ear so far away. Pareidolia is what I think it is.

You probably are right.
But you must agree that if you look at the first picture that it is an easy mistake to make.

More pronounced in the very first picture of the whole coin.
