Okay, that's how I see it at least. It looks like part of the "D" dropped above the mintmark. Is this terribly common and numismatically worthless, or is this a real error that is sought after?
Actually, it looks fairly convincing. The black color strongly suggests that the die fill has been retained. You'll be able to see if this is the case if you place the coin under a microscope.
It is NOT post mint damage. The luster flows properly all around the area. I'm not sure exactly what else you want in a photo, but that's basically how it looks in hand under magnification. I got this in a "fresh" roll of Hawaii quarters from the bank right after they got them directly from their distributor.
