I know that there are two varieties (small and large head), but I can find no information as too which is considered the normal coin.
Can any one help by advising which is the normal (or first) and which is considered the variety.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Hi Bookmarker,

The large head with the text closer to the rim (coin on the left) is the uncommon variety. The coin on the right is the normal one.

By my count the text close to rim accounts for around 7.7% of 1999 10 cent pieces.

There are three different types: Large head, Medium head, and Small head. The rarest type is the Large Head, the most common type is the small head.

What I was researching was the possibility that the 2000 Roo dollar-and the 1999 obverse dies got accidentally switched producing the 2000 dollar small obverse and the variants of the 1999 large/ small head ten cents. This has yet to be proven as nobody seems interested in looking into it.....
