Hello everyone It's been awhile since my last post I was looking through my coins and came across this 2008 D LMC it's the best one I have! Looking for opinions on if possibly worth having graded.

It looks like the coin has been gold plated and buffed. I can't see any mint luster and the color isn't right for copper.

Plating was my first thought too, which would cause this coin to be considered damaged, post mint. No, not worth sending in for grading.

My bad for wasting your time. I was engrossed with the shine and never payed attention to the color. I didn't realize I had gold plated pennies but I came across a 2016 as well, as well as a couple Kennedy half dollars and a few buffalo head nickels

far too shiny for a business strike, as mentioned - plated in gold (real gold? or a brass? metal)

Yep, just plated with a value of face value.

Your post may help others understand what to look for and what to avoid. I'm sorry that it's not in mint state and I hope it was a find and not a purchase, but just think of the disappointment you would have had if you DIDN'T post it and learned the truth when the coin was returned from a Third-Party Grading co. in a body bag as not genuine. Always post if you have a question! We can't own every coin, but we still love to look at as many as possible.

as well - your coins and questions (and every other that has been posted have help me to learn more about this hobby. If nobody posted questions - this would be a very boring forum

As a teacher of mine once said, " If you are brave enough to ask the question, you might feel "dumb" for a moment. But if you don't ask the question, you might be dumb forever!"
