Hey folks

I frequent Variety Vista and the like, and I noticed something.

Varieties will be listed as "FS-" then a specific number.

But then there are others under that same variety with no FS number.

Are only the ones with an FS number recognized and most valuable as the variety?

Thanks!

FS- are Fivaz-Stanton numbers assigned by the authors of the CherryPickers' Guide. Somebody else may have assigned a number to the same variety in another publication. That's my understanding anyway. It's difficult to answer the "most valuable" question - some may have been attributed under an earlier categorization before CPG gave it theirs, or not attributed at all.

I think the following numbers like 101, 102, 103 etc are just sequential listings as the varieties/errors are found. as I have observed 100's are for obverse and 500's are for reverse - but I could be wrong on that part. (I'm stull learning this stuff too)

Okay, great. Now I'm afraid to climb my ladder because I can't find what's wrong with it.
