I recently acquired this Indian Head cent. It has a very peculiar line below the 9 in the date. Has anyone ever seen anything like this or know what variety it is. It is extremely lustrous and might even be a proof. It has like 50% wire rims on both sides. Let me know what you think!

Looks like just an inconsequential die chip.

Probably a die chip. Try soaking it in acetone.

Looks like a die chip to me. If you can find other examples with the same die chip, Rick Snow might give it a variety. I say might as it's not a variety I think many would hunt for.

As for proof, I think this is a circulation strike.

Oddly-shaped for a die chip. Forward your question and images to Rick Snow (rick@indiancent.com) and he will know for sure.

Last year Rick was getting sued by an investor. He had for a while shut everything down. I'm not sure what the outcome was for that though.
