@904, looks plated to me as you can see a bit of the underlying coin poking up through high points with a little wear. Just someone having fun with a normal, circulated quarter. You could save it as a novelty or spend it.

I agree with Spence. Plated for sure, but it's considered damage ( post mint). No extra value.

Looks like something is "on it" not sure of it being plated,like with gold.
